How to Choose the Perfect Fridge for Your Home

Purchasing a major appliance is a big move — and fridges are no exception. The good news is that having a game plan can make it much easier.

So what should you focus on? Stick to the basics. Here’s why sizes, features, styles, and configurations are surefire criteria for a more rewarding fridge purchase.

Know Your Space — Inside and Out

Everyone knows you need to measure your kitchen thoroughly before any upgrade. Whilst you need to make sure the new fridge actually fits the space you have, the fridge’s exterior size isn’t the only thing to worry about.

Specific fridge models use their interior space in different ways. Some come with basic shelves, but others feature more complex organisers, racks, and tray systems. Two fridges with the same total volume might deliver completely different experiences based on their interior layouts.

Think about not only the overall size but also your usage habits. Here are some smart questions to consider:

  • Do you typically refrigerate large, bulky items, like cooking pans that take up a lot of space?
  • Do you have a big family who all have different dietary needs and prefer their own little zones?
  • Will your chosen model be comfortable and safe for your children or elderly relatives with limited mobility?

Go for Functional Features, Not Just Looks

Style is a huge part of designing a great kitchen, but it shouldn’t come at the expense of functionality.

Door style is a great example. Some people prefer the clean, unbroken surfaces of single-door designs for aesthetic reasons. But these models aren’t as space-effective in smaller kitchens, where double doors are easier to manoeuvre around.

Don’t forget about convenience. If you use your freezer just as much as the fridge, then a side-by-side model might be way less hassle.

The nice thing about fridges is that most can accommodate a range of exterior finishes to match your other appliances. In other words, colour should be the last item on your checklist. Your priorities are the essentials, like icemakers, produce compartments, warranty coverage, and defrosting functions.

Configurable Fridges Make Happier Kitchens!

Your needs and routine will evolve, especially if you’ve got a growing family. If your fridge can’t keep up, it’ll become a time-wasting burden.

The key is to pick something that can adapt with minimal fuss. Whether this means features like shelving you can rearrange and clean easily or programmable settings, you should always choose a new fridge that simplifies your life as much as possible.

The Benefits of Energy Efficient Whitegoods: Why You Should Upgrade Now

Are you tired of skyrocketing utility bills and appliances that constantly need repairs? Maybe it’s time to consider upgrading to energy-efficient whitegoods. With the rising cost of electricity and the growing concern over our planet’s resources, making the switch to energy-efficient appliances is not only a responsible choice but also an investment in your future. In this article, we explore the numerous benefits of energy-efficient white goods and why upgrading now is a smart decision. From reducing your carbon footprint to saving money on your monthly bills, energy-efficient appliances offer a range of advantages that go beyond just convenience. So, if you’re ready to make a positive impact on the environment while enjoying the perks of cutting-edge technology, read on to discover why now is the perfect time to upgrade your whitegoods.

Environmental benefits of energy-efficient whitegoods

When it comes to the environment, even small changes can make a big difference. By upgrading to energy-efficient whitegoods, you can significantly reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to a greener future. Unlike traditional appliances, energy-efficient whitegoods are designed to consume less electricity while still delivering optimal performance. This means that they produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions, helping to combat climate change and preserve our natural resources.  Older appliances are just not made with energy efficiency in mind and they do tend to cost more to run.

Furthermore, energy-efficient whitegoods are often made using more sustainable materials and manufacturing processes. They are designed to last longer, reducing the need for frequent replacements and ultimately decreasing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. By choosing energy-efficient appliances, you are not only minimizing your impact on the environment but also supporting companies that prioritise sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

In addition to reducing emissions and waste, energy-efficient whitegoods can also help conserve water. Many modern appliances, such as washing machines and dishwashers, are equipped with advanced features that optimise water consumption. These appliances use less water per cycle, saving both energy and resources. By upgrading to energy-efficient whitegoods, you can contribute to water conservation efforts and play your part in building a more sustainable future.  You’ll also lower your water bill and add another saving to your quarterly outgoings.

Cost savings of using energy-efficient whitegoods

One of the most compelling reasons to upgrade to energy-efficient whitegoods is the potential for significant cost savings. While the initial investment may be higher compared to traditional appliances, the long-term savings on your monthly utility bills can quickly offset the upfront expense.

Energy-efficient whitegoods are designed to operate more efficiently, consuming less energy while still delivering the same level of performance as their non-efficient counterparts. This means that you can enjoy the convenience of modern appliances without the worry of high electricity bills. Over time, the savings can be substantial and can make a significant impact on your household budget.

Moreover, energy-efficient whitegoods often come with additional features that can further contribute to cost savings. For instance, many appliances have programmable settings that allow you to schedule operations during off-peak hours when electricity tariffs are lower. By taking advantage of these features, you can leverage your energy usage and save even more money.

It’s also worth noting that energy-efficient appliances tend to have a longer lifespan compared to traditional ones. They are built with high-quality components and advanced technologies that not only reduce energy consumption but also improve durability and reliability. This means fewer repairs and replacements, resulting in additional cost savings in the long run.

Long-term durability and reliability of energy-efficient whitegoods

When it comes to household appliances, reliability is key. Nobody wants to deal with constant breakdowns and expensive repairs. Fortunately, energy-efficient whitegoods are designed to be more durable and reliable than their non-efficient counterparts.

Energy-efficient appliances are built with high-quality components and advanced technologies that are designed to withstand the test of time. Manufacturers invest in research and development to create appliances that not only consume less energy but also deliver superior performance and last longer. By upgrading to energy-efficient whitegoods, you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your appliances will be reliable and durable for years to come.

Moreover, energy-efficient whitegoods often come with extended warranties, providing additional protection and saving you money on potential repairs. Manufacturers have confidence in the quality and longevity of their energy-efficient appliances, which is why they offer comprehensive warranty coverage. This means that in the rare event that something does go wrong, you can rest assured knowing that you are covered.

Factors to consider when choosing energy-efficient whitegoods

When it comes to choosing energy-efficient whitegoods, there are several factors that you should consider to ensure that you make the right decision for your needs and preferences. Here are a few key factors to keep in mind:

1. Energy Star rating: Look for appliances with the Energy Star label. This certification indicates that the appliance meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Appliances with higher Energy Star ratings are more efficient and can help you save more on your energy bills.

2. Size and capacity: Consider the size and capacity of the appliance to ensure that it meets your household’s needs. Appliances that are too large for your requirements can lead to unnecessary energy consumption, while those that are too small may not be able to handle your daily demands.

3. Features and functionality: Take the time to evaluate the features and functionality of the appliance. Look for advanced technologies and settings that can further optimise energy usage and enhance performance. For example, some appliances have sensors that adjust settings based on the load size, saving both energy and water.

4. User reviews and ratings: Read user reviews and ratings to get an idea of the performance and reliability of the appliance. Look for feedback from consumers who have been using the appliance for a significant amount of time to get a sense of its long-term durability.

By considering these factors, you can make an informed decision and choose energy-efficient whitegoods that align with your needs and preferences.

4 reasons to choose factory seconds white goods

Are you in the market for a new washing machine or fridge in Brisbane on a budget? Perhaps you’re a flood victim and didn’t have your previous appliance insured, or maybe you’re a student looking for a cheap installation. Purchasing a factory second-hand appliance may be the way to go. These appliances aren’t second-hand in the usual sense, but instead have minor dents or scratches that prevent them from looking brand new.

At our store, we have a wide range of factory seconds fridges for sale Brisbane residents can trust. There are several reasons why you should consider factory seconds white goods In this blog, we outline four of these reasons.

Browse a larger range

When you purchase factory seconds, you get to choose from a larger range of brands and models when compared to what’s on offer in mainstream retail stores. This is because stores that sell factory seconds aren’t concerned with selling only the latest makes and models, but also those from previous years that have minor defects and never made it out of the factory. Browsing from a larger range means it becomes easier to find the right second-hand appliance to suit your needs and requirements.

Environmentally friendly

Buying factory second white goods allows you to actively reduce your impact on the environment. Without purchase, these goods are likely to end up in a landfill somewhere, thereby contributing to land waste and preventing the materials from being used in the production of another model. Household Appliances – Brisbane Supplier for Ovens and Cooktops

We supply and install many household appliances in Brisbane.  Mostly refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, and cookware – stovetops or ovens.

The freestanding oven is a very convenient option for a new kitchen or as a replacement.

Many kitchen renovations call for set sizes so we need to know what space we are working with first.  If you do need a freestanding oven or a new cooktop get in touch on (07) 3918 4900

If your oven or cooktop is broken, we can source the parts and repair them.  If that’s not possible we can replace it at less than retail.  Sometimes you might just need a new element, but these need to be properly installed.

Note that we do sell gas cookers but we only do installs on the electrical ones.

The Process:

  1. Select your model
  2. Tell us the size of the space you have for the oven or cooktop
  3. We will quote to supply
  4. Our quote will include the supply of a new oven, removal of the old one and the electrical work for the installation
  5. Once you accept the quote we arrange a time to come and do the installation and book it in

If that sounds good you can call us now to chat about your requirements.  Our team is extremely experienced with the supply, repair, and installation of household electrical appliances and would love to help.

We will advise installation timeframes based on what stock we have available but it’s generally a very quick process.

If it’s a repair job you need, we can source pretty much anything as far as spare parts go.  Sometimes we can help with a generic brand at a lower cost if you need that.

What to do when your fridge is broken

Are you having some trouble with your fridge?  We can help.  To start with, there’s a general set of troubleshooting tasks you can complete that will help to get this situation sorted ASAP.  Our team can run you through this over the phone. Some initial diagnosing can help to determine what sort of situation you’re in. There will be two situations generally: you can either have the fridge repaired under warranty (or repaired outside of warranty), or you may find the repair is not really going to be worth the trouble.  If you decide to buy a new fridge, that’s an option, or we can assist with a factory second which offers greater savings and the opportunity to upgrade on what you can afford new.  The choice you make will depend on your personal situation.

Top 3 Tips for Purchasing a New Household Appliance

Spring is just about here, and now is the time to make those renovations to your home that you’ve been wanting all winter. Whether you’re planning on upgrading that washing machine that’s gotten way too loud or change out that dryer that takes two cycles to dry anything, making an appliance change can be an extensive process. While purchasing a new household appliance might be simple, installing it and setting it up in your home can be a tedious process. Here are a few tips to make things easier:

1. Research the product

Before you buy any appliance, your goal should be to become a well-informed consumer. That means researching the product in an in-depth manner — and we don’t mean just reading the 10 most popular models from a major appliance website. We actively encourage you to find a model that uses as much energy as you’d like it to, comes with the best warranty options, and more. While what a machine claims to be able to do will always be quite a lot, the proof is in the pudding. Looking at product specifications and understanding them is the best way to avoid purchasing a product that won’t live up to your expectations. Do You Need a Clothes Dryer?

Are you short of outdoor space for a clothesline? Do you live in an area with high humidity or rainfall, or find it difficult to dry your clothes in the winter months? Do you frequently find yourself putting on damp clothes because you don’t have time to let them dry properly? If this is the case, a clothes dryer can save a lot of hassle on laundry day! Read on for more information about why owning a dryer could help make your life easier every week.

How Do Clothes Dryers Work?

Some industrial dryers run on gas, but most domestic clothes dryers use electricity to generate heat in a heating element, much like the one you find in your oven.

Clothes dryers need both a heat source and a way of removing the moisture from your clothes in order to dry them. There are three main types of dryers, which differ mainly in the way that moisture is removed: Continue reading “Do You Need a Clothes Dryer?”

Five fridge organisation hacks

When you need to cook, there’s nothing like a clean, well-organised fridge to motivate you. Check out these simple hacks and tips that could help you get there.

1. Save time and make carrots last forever

If you store carrots in water in the fridge, they will stay hard and edible for weeks. This trick also applies to other hardy vegetables or roots like celery and potatoes after they are cut. You can cut up your soup or oven-bake veggies ahead of time and grab some when you need. Use a deep pan or a plastic container, and change the water out every three days or so.

2. Organise your shelves by food type

The ideal temperature for a fridge is 3 to 5°C. But there is a bit of temperature variation within a fridge, with the bottom being the coldest. You can use this information to help you organise, keeping certain categories of food together to find them easily and also prevent cross-contamination.

We recommend food that doesn’t need cooking, like deli meats or leftovers, for the upper shelf. The middle shelf could be dairy foods like milk, cheese, butter, and desserts. The bottom shelf could be wrapped raw meat (if you eat it), then fruit and veggies in the drawers. The doors are the warmest part of the fridge and have less space, so they are great for sauces and foods with natural preservatives like jams. Continue reading “Five fridge organisation hacks”
